1920-1929: The Jazz Age

The period after World War I, also known as the Roaring 20s, is characterized by a newfound individualism and unabashed pleasure-seeking, and by an optimism that America was breaking from Europe and coming into its own. Writer F. Scott Fitzgerald dubs these years the Jazz Age.
